POAH Communities names New Sr. VP/COO and CFO

POAH Communities (POAHC), the property management company for national nonprofit affordable housing developer Preservation of Affordable Housing has appointed Sevara Davis as the new senior vice president and chief operating officer and Amos Allen as Chief Financial Officer. 

In her role as SVP and COO, Davis will supervise six directors in the corporate office, three vice presidents and 12 regional property supervisors who oversee some 500 site staff in the field. She oversees operations and the physical assets of the 120+ property portfolio, develops annual property budgets and supports the president with implementing POAH’s 5-year strategic plan to continue the company’s record of excellence.

Davis serves as liaison to funding and regulatory agencies which support the residents and the communities in the managed portfolio.

Prior to joining POAH Communities, Davis served as director of real estate for Chicago Public Schools and before that as a building management specialist for the U.S. General Services Administration. She was regional facilities manager for Jones Lang LaSalle, a real estate services firm that develops and invests in industrial, commercial, retail, residential and hotel real estate.  Davis began her career as an asset manager for Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) where she gained recognition for producing efficient solutions and solving operational challenges for a real estate development portfolio.  

Davis holds Master of Business Administration, Real Estate and Bachelor of Science, Finance degrees from Roosevelt University in Chicago.

As chief financial officer, Amos Allen will continue to manage a growing accounting team from POAH Communities’ Kansas City office and play an important role in the consistent growth and success of the company. Allen will continue to provide expert guidance and support on financial and accounting matters as well as ensure accurate interpretation of financial information. Finally, he will evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of POAH C’s financial work processes, methods and procedures.

Allen began his career at POAH Communities in 2005 as a portfolio accountant and has risen through the ranks to serve as controller, vice president and more recently senior vice president.  In his 17 years at POAH Communities, Allen oversaw the integration of new portfolios, customization of resident escrow accounts and automation of POAH Communities’ vendor payment processing. 

Allen received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Emporia State University and an MBA from the University of Missouri - Kansas City.
