POAH works in partnership with the Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago and the Community Investment Corporation on the Renew Woodlawn Homeownership Program to help qualified homebuyers purchase newly built and architecturally significant rehabbed homes.
The Renew Woodlawn program offers grants and down-payment assistance and is focused on the area bounded by 60th St. on the north, 67th St. on the south, King Drive on the west, and Stony Island Ave. on the east.
To date, we have sold nearly four dozen formerly vacant or distressed homes to first-time buyers and, in doing so, jump-started the market for owner-occupied homes in parts of Woodlawn. In 2021, we anticipate embarking on a second round of Renew Woodlawn, paring new financial resources from the City of Chicago, with funding recycled from our HUD Choice Neighborhood grant.
POAH’s partners include the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago Inc., and the Community Investment Corporation.
